This shoe gained popularity with the Lambourn racing farriers as it offers 7/8 cover, yet remains a relatively light steel section. This is ideal for the larger footed Thoroughbreds that may require added sole protection.
The concave steel used is a fine fullered 7/8 x 5/16. It is, however, sometimes referred to as “7/8 x 3/8 Light”.
The shoes are also produced with a fine nail pitch, making the fitting of such a wide web shoe to a Thoroughbred foot very safe. |
